Today is my birthday (and my husband’s birthday.) With each passing year, things get a bit more stressful, and a little less… celebratory. Perhaps I’m lacking in motivation, but I’d like to think that I just need a little inspiration. Thank goodness for these truly amazing, delicious, and simple ways to celebrate all of life’s finer things – compliments of experts from all over the web! (Now I have no excuses.)

I love preassembled art crafting kits for kids. Recent budget-tightening and an increased interest in recycling, however, have led to some new opportunities to get especially creative with our homeschool craft routine. Check out the four top picks from our dining room table, and see how they can be adapted to fit your creative time!

I completely understand the benefits of having structure. While I'm inclined to throw everything to the wind, doing most tasks when I feel most productive, I agree that children benefit from having some consistency in their lives. So why is it that regular bedtimes seem more of an interruption to their natural lives than anything else?

This is perhaps the first review I’ve ever done where I didn’t really test the product myself. I let my 10-year-old daughter have the honors. With adequate safety gear and a limited amount of concrete, we had a great time giving the Shred Sled a try! And we have an extra one to give away!

Working families all across the U.S. are feeling the tightening economy. “Day by day” is truly the only way to handle things, but did you also know that there is help? In addition to the numerous programs offered in California, the U.S. government and organizations are using WE Connect to help get Moms the information they need to take care of families. Here’s what Maria had to share with us….

What do statistics and cartoons have in common? They are both combined beautifully in a new study guide for students that blew me away with its practicality and possibilities. Intrigued? This book is just the beginning.

My son will be two years old in January, and he is plenty old enough to be broken from his bottle habit. I picked a day (like any other) and just decided to do it. Here's what I learned, and why I'm glad it's over.

Awhile back I told you how I was almost always the Mom in the middle. Not sure if I’m overreacting to most things, but more than likely certain that I’m too laid back for my own good. A trip to the ER this weekend gave me confidence in my decision–making abilities as a mother. (And reaffirmed that you really don’t want to mess with me when the kiddos are involved.)

If you have a tween girl at home who craves fiction, this series by Dannah Gresh might be a healthy alternative to chick lit books geared toward the teen crowd.

It has been a difficult few months for my family. Homeschooling, 6 cases of the flu, working from home, and keeping up with a rather heated political battle has left this mama a bit worse for wear. While I can count a few more grey hairs as a result of this mega-dose of “life”, I’m also very thankful for the opportunity to teach. Where textbooks have traditionally failed, I have had the blessing to share real life with my children.

I envy my “crafty” friends. You know…. the ones who scrap, sew, and design their own blog templates. They do it so easily, and so it seemed futile for me to even try. Then I discovered a website that gave me back some confidence.

I was prepared to hate this remake of my favorite teen drama growing up. After all, it had gotten the Parent’s Television Council to call for a boycott after only the first show. Not being one to let anyone make decisions for my family, I decided to screen the show myself. My findings were shocking -- but not in the way you would think.

An otherwise deletable email came from the infamous women's mag Redbook today. Like most suckers, I clicked the link to their “How Lying, Flirting (with someone else), and Fighting Can Make You Closer.” Will walking these fine lines have a positive effect on your relationship?

It's that time of year. School has started, and even though we home school, we're officially “carriers” for the latest form of kiddie plague. The coughing has come full-force, and I lay awake at night listening to tiny hacks and moans, wondering what more I could do. Here's an official guide to the most common causes, and what you can do to help.

I remember when computers were first introduced as a tool for children (very young children.) I thought to myself, “What kind of parent would let their 3-year-old play computer games?"
